The Ocean in Purgatory Project is a Marine Science research program. The classroom is Banderas Bay and the Ocean coast of Pacific Mexico. The Catamaran “Purgatory” is the lab. Students from all over North America are involved in a research study program to help identify our human impact on the Ocean and monitor it’s state of health. We need to change our destructive trend …. If we kill the ocean we kill ourselves. Students that sail on Purgatory will be studying on a totally “Green” platform as well as be part of the sailing team while onboard. The quest is to run a Plankton, Humpback Whale and Manta-ray survey for the region, monitor the interaction between tourism and this unique marine population, sample water quality, micro plastic impact, as well as 3D map the bay
